My first customers are now starting to trickle in about 2 months after first putting my site up. Strange feeling to start with as people have seen what you have to offer and happy to take a punt on you. Gives you a bit of a buzz. In fact so much of a buzz that I didn't get to sleep til 5 the morning after my first job came in! Think if you are offering any business over the net then you need to pay for google and yahoo ads to start with as it takes ages for your web page to get noticed. The ads get you on the first page for as little as a £1 a day. Well worth it when you only need one customer to pay for it.

website designs
I saw my website on somebody elses computer screen the other day and was surprised how massive the page looked, half the screen was taken up with the spreadsheets direct logo! I've therefore decided to redesign my pages and put them in what is (hopefully) a more fluid design. Sounds easy but only when you start creating the pages do you realise how IE and Firefox show them in different ways. What looks spot on in IE is usually way off in Firefox. On further investigation I've discovered that it is IE that is at fault as it doesn't conform to the proper standards. Assuming most people still use IE as their browser it's just a case of getting it looking good in that and ok in Firefox. You can check the new look out at http://www.spreadsheetsdirect.com
Cleaning Windows
Just replaced Windows 98 with Ubuntu version of Linux on my old desktop and I'm very impressed with it already. There are free programs galore available for it, everything from games to spreadsheets. Takes a bit to de-windows yourself but then it feels far more natural than windows ever did. You think how do I do this then you realise it's right in front of you.
